Simon Boyd, managing director of REIDsteel, said: “I give this deal a cautious welcome as more details of the exact arrangements are still emerging.

“What is clear however is that we have now reached crunch time where there is a binary choice between this deal or no deal.

“Let’s put it before Parliament on Saturday and if it is not agreed then we are ready to leave without an agreement and quite capable of prospering on our own.

“There can be no further prevarication or delay; we must leave on October 31.”
