Jason Maude, Chief Technology Advocate of Starling Bank, will discuss his thoughts on the future of fintech and banking at Startup Grind Bournemouth on the 18th of September.

Startup Grind Bournemouth hold monthly ‘fireside chats’ for entrepreneurs seeking business tips from business leaders from a wide variety of industries and specialisms. Jason Maude, Chief Technology Advocate of Starling Bank, will share his thoughts with Bournemouth’s booming financial community on the 18th September at The Chocolate Box, Lansdowne.

Maude has spent over a decade in the financial sector, primarily creating and delivering software. Through his work at Starling Bank, a digital, mobile-only bank based in London, Maude has seen how fintech influences not only Starling Bank, but the banking industry as a whole. Since Maude joined Starling Bank 3 years ago, the business has seen rapid growth in turnover and headcount, with over 500 hundred staff now working at the company.

At Startup Grind Bournemouth, Jason Maude will be quizzed by resident compere and serial tech startup founder, Andrew Walker. The ‘fireside chat’ will cover how Starling Bank started, why Starling Bank’s use of technology differentiates them from other banks, the realities of rapid growth in a technology business and the impact of fintech in banking now and in the future.

Jason Maude said:
“We’ve always seen ourselves as a technology business that happen to have a banking license rather than just a bank with an IT department. Fintech is such an important factor in how Starling Bank operate, and this is what I will communicate to Bournemouth’s financial community.”

Marcus Wincott, Director of Startup Grind Bournemouth, said:
“We're very excited to welcome Jason Maude to Startup Grind Bournemouth. Jason will be a great source of information for anyone working in Bournemouth’s extensive financial sector. If you’d like to know anything about fintech, Jason is the best person to ask!”
