A charity event celebrating Royal Ascot Ladies Day raised a record amount of money for Forest Holme Hospice.

More than 40 local business women donned their finest hats for the fifth annual event to be organised by Ellis Jones Solicitors at Lake Yard, Poole.

Partners Lauren Day and Kate Brooks joined other female staff from the firm as well as guests from a range of companies and organisations.

A Tote betting system was arranged allowing bets to be placed on the races, raising money for Forest Holme.

There were also contests for the best fascinator and correctly guessing the colour of The Queen’s Ascot outfit. Guests also enjoyed a three course lunch and networking.

Kate Brooks said the event atmosphere between the high-flying female guests was “buzzing”.

She added: “It was great to see our contacts building strong relationships with each other while highlighting the equality prevalent in both our firm and the wider business community. The event epitomised the culture at Ellis Jones – ‘Professional with Personality.’

“We raised a record £1,000 for Forest Holme Hospice, demonstrating how you can support a fantastic local charity while also having a great time and making long-lasting business connections.”

Hannah O’Hare, Fundraising and Communications Manager at Forest Holme Hospice in Poole, welcomed the donation.

She added: “We are so grateful to Ellis Jones Solicitors for their continued support of our hospice.

“This year’s ladies day was a huge success. The money will provide compassionate care for local people living with the advanced stages of cancer and other life limiting illnesses.
“2019 marks the 25th anniversary of our charity. Since 1994 we have cared for over 20,000 people through our inpatient team, community team, counselling service and complementary therapies. We couldn’t have achieved this level of care without the support of local individuals and companies such as Ellis Jones so a very big thank you.”
