A charity which provides health, wellbeing and drug prevention education to thousands of school children across the region has publicly thanked a Dorset law firm for its support.

Life Education Wessex works with children aged three to eleven, parents and teachers to improve the health and wellbeing of the young as well as helping then to avoid risky behaviours that may damage their health and their futures.

The charity, which is familiar to many children for its popular giraffe mascot called ‘Harrold’, uses a unique mobile classroom, known as the ‘Life Bus’, where highly skilled educators deliver age-appropriate lessons to classes.

Ellis Jones Solicitors has now renewed its sponsorship of the Life Education Wessex school certificates for another year.

The certificates are printed and circulated throughout Life Education’s coverage area with the vast majority in Dorset where the charity visits 30,000 children a year.

They are presented to children who have successfully completed the Life Education programme, starting in reception and going through to year 6.

Ellis Jones also sponsored this year’s Big Quiz at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium which raised more than £10,600 for Life Education. Co-incidentally the law firm also won the quiz which attracted 32 teams.

Lorraine Hewitt, Life Education’s Fundraising Manager, said Ellis Jones’ support was “hugely appreciated.”

She added: “The backing we receive from Ellis Jones, and other sponsors, is invaluable and we can’t thank them enough.”

Nigel Smith, Ellis Jones’ Managing Partner, said: “Life Education Wessex provides very important drug prevention and health education to young people in the local area.

"Children today are under ever-increasing pressure and temptation to engage in behaviour that damages their health and their futures and this is why Life Education’s work is so important.  We are very happy to support them in helping these children to lead healthy and happy lives."

Ellis Jones has more than 160 staff including 14 partners.

It has six offices across the south coast in Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs (Poole), Christchurch, Ringwood, Swanage and Wimborne - as well as London - and offers a wide range of services to individuals and businesses.
