ITSB, the Dorset based managed IT service provider, is helping children to stay safe online by supporting the Community Sports Trust team at AFC Bournemouth with its Connect with Care program. Following a successful sponsorship of the program in 2017/2018, ITSB has renewed sponsorship for this season. Last year the program sponsorship accommodated over 1000 pupils in Dorset schools taking part in the education sessions about online safety.

“As a provider of IT services to schools, we feel it’s our responsibility to help educate young people on the dangers of going online and provide tools to help them stay safe. Access to the online world is now so easy through any number of devices, which are more available to children than ever before. It’s not just about protecting our children when online, it’s vital that they understand how easily information can be shared. There is a permanency when information is shared online - it can stick around for many years to come.”

The sessions, run by the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust team, advise on the protection of personal Information. After the sessions, support for parents is provided in the form of a booklet that children will be given after each session.

Under the arrangement ITSB retains their status an official partner of AFC Bournemouth’s self-funding, non-profit Community Sports Trust. The project, of which club midfielder Andrew Surman is ambassador, provides lessons in one-hour workshops.

AFC Bournemouth partnerships manager Amy Brunton said: “It’s great to have ITSB back on board for another season. The company is very much at the heart of this worthwhile educational programme.

“Connect with Care is a wonderful classroom-based scheme and the Community Trust’s sessions are increasingly popular and have proved to be invaluable for parents, pupils and teachers.”
