Construction has started on a new refurbishment and extension of the existing dining hall and kitchen at Lord Wandsworth College in Hook, Hampshire.  The £3.5m contract for the project has been gained by Fareham-based Amiri Construction and the project is due to be completed by November 2018.  The new facility will benefit both pupils and teaching staff, who will be able to enjoy their meals within the refurbished contemporary dining areas and glass walled extension overlooking a converted courtyard seating area for alfresco dining.

Bournemouth-based Architect Rollo Malcom-Green, from Mancon Project Management, said that the existing brick building will also receive external renovations including the cleaning of the stone facades and features.   Even the metal water down pipes will be re used to ensure that the building retains much of its original character.

Adam Williams, Headmaster at Lord Wandsworth College said that the new dining hall , will be a fantastic modern venue that will be enjoyed by the 650 pupils that the College will educate  and its teaching staff, and provide state of the art kitchen facilities for the in-house catering team.
Members of the Amiri team are no strangers to the campus. In 2003 they completed the construction of a £625,000 new music and drama block followed by a £1.6m inspirational teaching and learning space in 2011.   Amiri’s Director Mark Vincent said the specialist work within the education sector has contributed over £70m in project values for both private and state funded schools, colleges and universities.
