Ian Girling, Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) chief executive, said: "Businesses in Dorset will have welcomed the Chancellor's upbeat tone and the revised growth forecasts.

"Measures to addresses skills training, late payments and productivity along with investment in transport, high speed broadband, innovation and apprenticeships were also signs that the Chancellor is listening to business.

"However, it is important that we explore these opportunities and how we can access any funding to benefit Dorset - or lobby Government if we are not receiving our fair share.

"The Chancellor clearly recognises that there is an issue with business rates but more fundamental reform is needed than simply moving revaluation dates.

"Although there were no great surprises in his statement, he has put some markers down which need to be built upon in his full Budget in the Autumn with solid policies and business friendly measures."
