Bringing talented youths to the attention of local employers, the Rock Star Awards have announced this year's winners and raised over £7000 for the Bournemouth Hospital Charity.

An awards ceremony at the Bournemouth O2 Academy has celebrated incredible young people from across Dorset and Hampshire. Gathering within a beautifully laid out venue, the Rock Star Awards 2017 welcomed over 250 prominent business people, youth finalists and past winners. In between a three-course dinner and fabulous entertainment, awards were presented across 9 categories to young people aged under 26. Aiding the local community, over £7,000 was raised for the Bournemouth Hospital Charity.

Presented by compere Paul Kinvig and sponsors, awards and winners included:

Prior to the award announcements, past winner Nathaniel Hawley gave an impassioned speech about his struggles and achievements despite adversity. Aiding a charitable cause, Dr Helen Partridge then introduced guests to the Bournemouth Hospital Charity BERTIE platform, which supports young people and adults with Type 1 diabetes. Headed by Maria Seabright and three volunteers, a charity team selling raffle tickets and a prize auction helped to raise £7,339 for the project on the night.

Angela Piromalli, Founder of the Rock Star Awards and Managing Director of Rock Recruitment, said:

“We had a fantastic evening and I am proud to have celebrated so much young talent which often goes unrecognised. I would like to congratulate the winners and thank all the sponsors for making the awards possible. It’s also a delight to find out that we have raised over £7000 for our chosen charity.’’

Taking centre stage, entertainment was provided throughout the night. It included performances from the Love Soul Choir and Jade & Logan, a singer and guitarist duet from the Bourne Academy, plus Ellie Allen an extremely talented 15-year-old solo singer. DJ Munza from Global Media and Entertainment was also present for the afterparty.

Representing prestigious local businesses, sponsors for this year’s award categories included Greendale Construction, Bournemouth University, Breeze Volkswagen, Streetwise HR, Health-on-Line, Teachers Building Society, QuoStar and Aylesworth Fleming.
